The Magenta Foundation, Flash Foward 2010

The Magenta Foundation is pleased to announce year six of its Emerging Photographers exchange with big news.

The annual competition is now the biennial Flash Forward Festival, starting in October 2010. The annual Flash Forward competition will continue to take place each year, complemented by the larger biennial Flash Forward Festival every other year.

Magenta would like to thank all the artists who submitted their work to this project. The final list of winners has been posted below, and the exhibition and book information can be found on the Flash Forward Festival site.

Victoria and Albert Museum

On display at the traditional annual photography exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum, the most famous repository of applied art in the world, are eight works by the Lithuanian photographers Aleksandras Macijauskas and Indrė Šerpytytė.

The V&A began acquiring photographs in 1852 and its collection is now is one of the largest and most important in the world. It holds over 500,000 images, by both classic and contemporary photographers, and illustrates a wide range of processes, techniques and subject matter. The Photography Gallery focuses on the history of photography, with an annual display of around 40 outstanding photographs from the V&A’s collection (Photography gallery, Room 38a). The current annual display will be open until mid-May 2011.

Photography in the UK after the year 2000

This year’s festival devoted to documentary photography of the UK, the Update will focus on the most interesting currents and trends emerging in the island of photography. The new formula in the prediction of future Updates will be wizards of British photography scene photography by dictating trends: curators, photographers, publishers and art theorists, who by virtue of the profession every day observe and capture the most interesting phenomena. It is the nominating will be at the center of this year’s Update: In addition to multimedia presentations selected photographs, the exhibition will include interviews included comments in the form of invited experts.

Hyeres 2010
